Sizes according to Sea and Water

How to measure your catch:

Fish species: the distance from the tip of the snout to the outermost tip of the tail fin.
Lobster: the distance from the trailing edge of the eye socket to the trailing edge of the main shield, measured parallel to the center line (carapace length).
Langoustine: the distance from the trailing edge of the eye socket to the trailing edge of the main shield, measured parallel to the midline (carapace length), or the straight measurement from the tip of the forehead horn to the fixed edge of the middle tail fin (total length).
Oysters: Minimum diameter or width.

Sizes of seafood

When the boxes are delivered with mixed sizes, the fish is sold as Whole, followed by the name of the fish and then labeled Mix with the smallest and largest size in the box.

All boxes must be marked with the ship’s name, date of capture, product and size. A total landing report must also be submitted. The staff at the auction makes an ocular assessment, so that the item is correctly classified. However, it is the supplier who is ultimately responsible for the quality of the product.
